First Day of "Real" School

It is a big day in the life of our family- sending both kids off to school on the same day. We know that "there is nothing to worry about when God is their seatmate," as my teacher sister, Cindy, put it. We know they will make many new friends and happy memories that will last for eternity :)

I thought this car was pretty cool. It has solar panels that keep the inside at the right temp even when the car is sitting on the street.

It comes 100% electric or in a hybrid version that's gets 230 mpg at 55 mph!

The dash is just LCD's for your GPS, DVD, and cam views from outside.

Group picture before a walk to a waterfall where we saw a few tropical birds and heard monkeys screaming in the distance. The walk was with a guide and over rock with running water through jungle that made us feel very small. Some of the grass seemed about 80 feet high or more.

Camping - Cades Cove

We went camping last weekend at Cades Cove. We took a lot of pictures and did a lot of things over the four day trip. One of which our family had never done until this trip.

Cades Cove is a campground at the base of the Smokey Mountians National Park. We stayed in Cades Cove and also rode our bikes around the 11 mile Cades Cove loop. This give you an idea of what that bike trail looks like.

Nathan was very happy to have his new 21 speed bike along. I think he got the desire to a 21 speed after renting a bike this summer for our bike trip near grandpa's house.

There's a lot of wildlife in the park. From our walks to water falls, bike rides around Cades Cove, going down the river, riding the horses, and just driving down the road. We saw three bears, two rattle snakes, lots of dear, heard tons of birds, and of course we rodes the horses.

We had never all been on a horse ride together before this trip. Jannah was really excited about this ride and we all had a great time. Jannah was telling us she had never been on a horse but he wanted us all to know she had been on a camel ride before.

This was also something we had not done as a family quite like this before. We took two runs at two locations. In all about 3 miles on the river.

Vacation July 2008

Our family loves to be outdoors and to exercise a lot I'm told. Today I heard the average person walks about 1/4 mile per day at the most. Well, my parents walk three miles each morning and then they do sort of outside exercise during the day too.

This day was no exception to that norm. We went on a bike trail that was 26 miles one way. We didn't do the full trail but I think we put in under 30 miles in all. We were right by the lake most of the way and it was a lot of fun.

At the end of this bike trail we stopped to have lunch right by a draw bridge. This was one of many "ships" that floated by while we were there.

Good to see family again!

She has raised 2 tadpoles since December 2007. Now we think they are about full grown. See below for the food they eat!

Drag Race - June

It was the first time we took the kids to a race. we had a lot of fun with plenty noise while two LifeTalk staff raced each other. We plan to go back when they have real drag cars racing.

The slowest time we saw for the 1/4 mile was about 18 seconds and the fastest time was near 6 seconds. Ten seconds was the norm for the night.
